07/11/26 - Can I rework and rename a painting after I called it finished? I recently did just that with one called “Manifesting”.
Manifesting is loosely defined as using your thoughts and energy to align with the universe to bring what you desire into reality. This floral painting had a flower in the center where the petals (made of tiny shapes of color) touched the surrounding flowers. I loved the idea of the painting but I never felt like the center flower worked. It didn’t convey the energy I wanted it to.
I am experimenting with greens while working on a landscape series so I brought out “Manifesting” to see if I could change the center flower and improve the painting. You can see the evolution in the photos. In the end I am happy with the painting and felt that it needed a new center flower and a few other small changes along with renaming. It occurred to me that it looked like the intro to “The Brady Bunch show” with the family all around the parent flower in the middle and so I called it

Rose-Colored Glasses is hanging in this exhibition at the Cuyahoga Valley Arts Center. I love seeing the work of so many artists in one place! Definitely worth checking out.
